Rachmaninov 3rd Piano Concerto and Mozart Clarinet Concerto form orchestral highlights in September and January. Major choral works this year include Handel: Messiah and Brahms: Requiem. The season ends with the exhilarating African Sanctus of David Fanshawe.
We have a splendid line up of Mid Week Recitals, Saturday Midday Concerts featuring artists of truly international stature as well as exceptionally talented young performers. On Sundays there are beautiful Services of Reflection and Celebration led by the Cornerstone Choir.
Our ‘Musical Milestones’ series of monthly illustrated talks (Monday) celebrate the anniversaries of Haydn and Mendelssohn. Other featured composers include; Elliott Carter, Gorecki, Ethel Smyth and Stockhausen.
‘Exploring Music’ (Thursday) continues to illuminate the outstanding British composers of the twentieth centenary including Bax, Finzi, Tippett and Walton.
The talks are given by Adrian Boynton and illustrated with fine CD recordings.
